Hands on: Planting Your Dinner

Class Time: 2pm - 4pm 

It's time to start thinking about what you want to eat out of your garden.  Working in the soil at East Forty Farm, we will take take the mystery out of compost; tackle the hard work of garden planning with an eye towards meals to enjoy later in the summer; and learn tips to seed starting to ensure you are ready for Spring planting.  $20 per person.

ShineOnCass Animal Baby Shower & Egg Hunt

Spring welcomes new life at the farm! Join us for a special Animal Baby Shower & Egg Hunt for children ages 0-11. Please bring a pet item to the "Baby Shower" to donate to the Humane Society Waterville Area in honor and memory of Cassidy, who was a shelter volunteer and long-time camper at Hart 2 Hart Farm. Children are asked to bring their own basket to collect hidden eggs on the farm. Egg Hunt begins at 2:30 pm for ages 0-6, followed by ages 7-11. Come meet the new baby calves, goats and welcome bunnies, sheep, and other farm animals at the petting area. The event also includes farm games, crafts, face painting and a visit by the Easter Bunny. Kid Hugging Day

Come spend the day at the farm and meet this year's baby goats! You will be able to snuggle a baby, meet the mamas, and sample & purchase our goods! Local vendors will be there selling their wares as well, including Turtle Rock Farm with their spreadable fruits and preserves (we use their spreadable fruits in our chèvre!) and Good Shepherd with their amazing bread.

come visit the farm, visit the lambs, we will be shearing the sheep, we will have spinning wheel demonstrations, socks knit from their wool will be for sale. lunches served at the farmstand cafe. finish the day with our "may pole" celebration. dance around the maypole holding beautiful satin ribbons.

Ag Labor Field Day

May 3 , Hinckley Maine

Join agricultural service providers, employers, labor industry groups, and KVCC staff to find or prepare for a professional or academic career in a variety of agricultural areas. Workforce training and professional development staff from KVCC and the Department of Labor will be available to participants to review resumes and offer job searching advice.

DOL staff will also be available to employers to offer technical assistance in developing job descriptions, recruiting skilled employees, posting job opportunities, find funding for training, increase employee engagement, and much more. In addition, KVCC will also provide farm tours during the event. Hours: 9:30AM - 12:30PM

Open House at the Farm Stand

Come join us as we celebrate spring farm coming to life. We'll be working and welcoming guests, right there to answer any questions. Shawn will have his guitar right there when he gets any spare minutes. Farm tours are available with advance reservation. The farm stand will be stocked with freshly baked pies, cookies, muffins, maple granola & breads, We'll have a variety of spring greens, organically raised eggs, and organic seedlings for sale. Farmer for the Day

Ever wonder what it would be like to be a farmer for the day? Milk a cow, feed the chickens or pull a carrot from the garden? Come prepared to roll up your sleeves and get dirty as you join us doing afternoon chores. We'll collect eggs from the hen house, feed a baby calf a bottle of warm milk , move cows from the pasture to the milking parlor· and graze through the garden for a tasty treat. Good for all ages. Mother's Day Brunch at East Forty Farm

Milking Art

Team penning was started in California in the 1950s and reached this area of the country in the 1990's. Riders of all ages from youth to "seniors" and of all levels of experience compete. You'll see riders competing on horses of all breeds and disciplines from the backyard family horse, to the trained, cow-bred, Quarter Horse! Team penning is a family sport, aimed at having fun with friends and your horse! The competition pits thirty cattle against three riders to determine if the riders can pull the right three cows from the herd, push them down the arena, and put them in the pen faster than any of the other teams. Riders are successful when the cattle are penned. If the allotted time expires, or too many cattle cross the foul line, the result is a "no time".

Adult Farm Camp

Why should kids have all the fun?? During this 2 day workshop we'll tour our organic farm while focusing on pizza, garden exploration, cooking, play with sheep, journal and just have some plain fun. Plan on getting into the thick of farming. Try your hands at making garden fresh vegetable dips and herbal teas. Explore cheese making and cooking homemade pizza in our wood fired oven. Interested in farm chores? How about bottle feeding a new born calf or gathering eggs from the chicken coop for our morning breakfast. On day two, we'll start our day with morning yoga by the pond or an early morning farm walk. Then after a hardy brunch, it's off to explore our flock (sheep) and try our hands at felting. Our weekend comes to an end with a closing circle to reflecti on our weekend and the friends we have made. For accommodations plan on pitching a tent or staying at a local B&B. Weaving & Fiber Arts Weekend

Join us for a weekend of fiber- filled fun, enjoy the company of fellow fiber enthusiasts in the picturesque town of Turner, ME. You will learn the art of weaving from start to finish; leaving with a piece that you have created. There will also be time to try your hands at other fiber related arts such as spinning, dyeing, wet and needle felting, crocheting and knitting. Participants can also take a hike around the farm grounds, along the river, or just relax on the expansive front porch, overlooking the river and rolling pastures.
