The information below is for 2004, the 2005 information will be posted soon. Chances are the farms listed below will be participating again in 2005.

This farm was started by two scientists who came to Maine to raise alpacas and enjoy life the way it should be. There will be information on the history of alpacas and hands-on demos of fleece and its products. There will also be tours, refreshments and alpaca shaped cookies.
Open Farm Day Hours: 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Take Interstate 95 to Exit 302 (Houlton); go right on US l - south for 1 mile. Go right on US2A West Approx. 2 miles. Go left at Alker Road, approx. 2 miles. Go right at Benn Hill Road. It is the first house on the left.

Knot-II-Bragg Farm

Diversified Farm
This is a small diversified family farm with 80 acres of organic wild crafted gardens, pastures, woods, ponds and streams. The farm is devoted to being self-sufficient. Beef, dairy, pork and fish are raised here. It is home to a Traditional Northern Maine Herbal Apothecary. Herbal remedies are made and sold at the farm. Soaps are made at the farm using traditional old skills. Stickwood furniture, melt and pour soap buckets and red twig wreaths are farm specialties. There will be an explanation of the history and traditions of the farm. Guided farm tours and herb walks will take place at 10 am; noon; 2 pm; and 4 pm. The farm store will be open.

Come to the town of Washburn on Route 164 - turn down at the library - go about 30 car lengths. Turn on to Church Street across from the Lidestone Methodist Church. The Knot - II - Bragg Farm is a little over 3 miles from that point on the right.

Southern Aroostook Agricultural Museum

Farm Museum
This is the Southern Aroostook Agricultural Museum. Their museum display focuses on items used on County potato and dairy farms dating back to the 1800's. Included are logging tools, blacksmith shop items, a newly constructed replica of a typical potato house with vintage potato handing equipment. They have restored tractors and other equipment displayed outside. There is no admission fee. HANDICAP ACCESSIBLE

Driving North on Route 1 from Houlton the museum is locted eight miles on the left hand side just before C & W Citgo Gas Station in Littleton.

This is an organic vegetable farm with six acres in crop production, heirloom apple orchards, and strawberries. Their farmstand offers fresh produce grown on the farm as well as free range eggs, meats and locally baked breads. There will be farm tours of the farms, fields, and production areas. The farmstand will be open.

From the head of Mount Desert Island follow Rt 102 to Southwest Harbor. Go straight at lights through Somesville. Take right at sign for Beech Mt/Beech Cliffs (Pretty Marsh Road). Take next left at next sign for Beech Mt/Beech Cliffs. Farm is 1 1/2 miles up Beech Hill Road on right.

Happy Town Farm

Happy Town Farm has 4 acres of organic vegetables, pasture, small grains, sheep, chickens, and maple syrup making. There will be farm tours highlighting organic methods including green manures, cover crops, crop rotation, and composting.

From Ellsworth, take Rt. 1 towards Bucksport, 6 miles. Turn right on Happy Town Rd. go 5 miles. Happy Town Farm is on left. From Bangor, take Rt. 1A to East Holden, turn right onto Upper Dedham Rd. Follow Upper Dedham Road a couple of miles until it forks; bear left at the fork. Continue past Bald Mountain, where road takes a sharp 90 degree turn. Go about 2 more miles from Bald Mountain. Happy Town Road is on the left. Follow Happy Town Road 2 1/2 miles, farm is on the right.

Organic Blueberry Farm
This land has been farmed for over 200 years. This is a 25 acre farm with scenic views, a salt water marsh and 'pick your own'. There will be bee hives, explanations of interactivities of nature, climate and wild blueberries. Also information on why they have gone organic. There are walking trails. HANDICAP ACCESSIBLE

From Route 1 in Sullivan take Route 200 North for 4 miles. Watch for 5 foot tall blueberry on the left.

Ken-Rose Farm

Small Family Farm and B & B
This small family farm has 145 acres with 20 acres of blueberries. They raise chickens and turkeys and hand milk six jersey cows. They also have other livestock. They would like people to get to know what small farms are like. They will show a video of milking being done by hand, separating the milk and buttermaking. There will be tours of the barn and explanations of the workings of the farm. Tractor rides around the fields will be offered.

6 miles north of Blue Hill Village on Rt. 15. Farm is on the right. From Rt. 1 in Orland take Rt. 15 south for 6.5 miles. Farm is on the left.


Mandala Farm

This is a 100 acre farm. They have 3.5 acres in organic vegetable production. They also raise organic lambs, sheep for wool, cashmere goats, and chickens for eggs and meat. They have a pig, dairy cow,and Norwegian Fjord draft horses that they use in the gardens. They also breed and sell the Fjords. OFD will provide an opportunity to see organic food and meat animals. The farmers will be avilable to give tours and answer question throughout the day. Carriage/wagon rides around the farm will be avialable for a small fee.

Take Route 1 North out of Ellsworth for approximately 14 miles. Turn right on to Route 186, the South Gouldsboro Road, toward Winter Harbor. Go 1 mile - at the top of the hill take a left onto Youngs Farm Road - Farm is on the left.

Peaked Mountain Farm

Wild Blueberry Farm
The farm is situated on Peaked Mountain in Dedham. It's 180 acres features beautiful views, natural wildlife habitat, and 40 acres of wild blueberry land. The farm has been owned by the same family since 1868. There will be talks about pollination and how wild blueberries grow, harvesting demonstrations, tour of facilities and fields. Product samples, local entertainment, and more. Full schedule of events will be posted on their web page on www.mainemade.com. OFD will feature the introduction of "Ellery Didn't Know That", a children's book written on and about the farm. The first 25 children at the scheduled reading will receive a free autographed copy.

From Route 1A in Holden Center, take upper Dedham Road 2 1/2 miles to Bald Mountain Road. Bear left onto Bald Mountain Road. Ellery's Lane is about 2 1/2 miles on the right.

Washington

Far Point Fibre Studio & Farm

Wool, Fiber, Herb and Vegetable
This is an intensively farmed 7-plus acres. They raise Shetland sheep, mohair goats and a llama for fibre. The farm also raises pigs, calves, geese, turkeys and chickens for meat and eggs. A small herd of Dexter cattle and some dairy goats provide milk and butter for the family. The small carding mill processes fibre for sale as well as for other wool producers. There will be demonstrations of spinning and other related crafts. The gardens provide for family and for sale. They participate in a vegetable program for the elderly and have a small orchard and a raspberry patch for the program and the family. There will be a special viewing pen with baby animals. They will also be selling handspun yarn, rovings, sheepskins, vegetables and USDA pork and lamb.

From Rt. 1, in Steuben take Dyer Bay Road. Go 2 1/2 miles to the fork and turn right. The farm is 1/4 mile on the left.

Shore Road Farm

Organic Vegetable and Berry Farm
This is a diversified MOFGA certified organic market garden. Crops include asparagus, highbush blueberries, raspberries, garlic, mixed vegetables, sweet melons and a range of herbs and greens. They will be demonstrating and teaching the components of organic vegetable culture including composting, cover crops, cultivation and weed management. They also sell and promote the European style scythe, enabling people to enjoy this healthy mowing alternative. They will be demonstrating the techniques of mowing and maintaining the European style scythe including blade selection, fitting the tool to you, sharpening, mowing strokes and gathering the windrow of cut grass. There will be demonstrations and hands on workshops. Refreshments will be served. "Our participation in Open Farm Day will be done in special memory of Elliott Fishbein - creator of Scythe Supply and former co-owner of Shore Road Farm."

Take US Rte 1 to Perry (near Eastport). Opposite the New Friendly Restaurant on Route 1 turn onto and follow Shore Road. Drive 2.4 miles. Look for Mailbox # 496. The house is up on a slope and is opposite the mailbox.

Tide Mill Organic Farm

Diversified Organic with Livestock
This is a nine generation salt water farm on the shores of Cobscook Bay. They raise their crops on 5 acres of land. The organic livestock are integrated with the whole farm system and each play a key role in the health of the farm. The 40 cows are raised on 40 acres of pasture and are fed only grass. The 30 pigs are busy clearing fields for upcoming pasture. They pasture and process 1,000 meat birds each year with intense rotational systems. They market their food directly to consumers as well as selling to local health food stores and restaurants in the local area. There will be tours of the organic vegetable and herb fields with explanations and discussions about organic farming practices. There will be tours of the livestock and organic production techniques. They will demonstrate their pastured poultry system with moving housing and fencing.

Take Route 1 north of Machias for 15 miles. At Whiting Corner, pass the Country Store and continue on Route 1 north for 2 more miles.

Udder View Farm

Goat Farm
This is a small Oberhasli dairy goat farm on 13 acres with a cheesemaking facility and meat breed goats. There is a small flock of chickens for eggs. They also have Akbash (livestock protection dog) - rare dog breed from Turkey. There will be goat milking demonstrations, farm tours, and educational handouts. There will be cheese and buttermaking demos and a petting area. They will offer samples of cheese and goat meat.

From Route 1 turn onto Sacarap Road at the mini mall in Harrington (near the high school). The farm is approximately 1/2 mile after the railroad tracks.

Take Route 25West from Exit 48 (old exit 8) of the Maine Turnpike or Portland to Gorham Village, at cneter of village - Junction 114 & 25W, follow through the light and take 4th left off 25W onto Flaggy Meadow Road - follow for 2 1/2 miles. Turn left onto Waterman Road - the farm is on the right.

Pineland Farms, Inc.

Pineland Farms consists of four farms with nearly 3,000 acres of land. The Hill Farm and Valley Farm will be the center of Open Farm Day. The one acre garden between the farms will also be an attraction, featuring over 2,000 perennials and 4,000 annuals, as well as a fruit tree orchard, herb and vegetable gardens. The Hill and Valley Farms are home to 140 Holstein and 35 Angus cows, 120 Dorset, 15 Icelandic, and 20 Katahdin hair sheep, 500 chickens, 37 horses, 3 foals, four llamas and five peacocks. The equestrian center is home to the Riding to the Top Therapeutic Riding program, Pineland Farms standard riding lessons and the Dutch Warmblood breeding program. There will be demonstrations and fun activities for all. HANDICAP ACCESSIBLE

Take the Maine Turnpike to Exit 63 (old exit 11) (Gray exit), bear right @ the tollbooth, follow signs for Route 115. Continue on Rt.115 east for 1.6 miles, then turn left on Depot Road continue on Depot Road while following signs for Rt 231. Take your first left onto Morse Road. Take your first right onto Farm View Drive. The Visitors Center will be the first building on your right.

Riding To The Top Therapeutic Riding

Therapeutic Riding Center
Riding to the Top is a NARHA (North American Riding For the Handicapped Association ) Premier Accredited Therapeutic Riding Center. They operate therapeutic riding programs at their farm in Windham and at Pineland Farms Equestrian Center. RTT serves over 200 riders per year with physical, cognitive, emotional and/or learning disabilities. Volunteers contribute over 5,000 hours annually assisting with lessons, barnwork and various other tasks. On Open Farm Day they will be offering demonstrations at Pineland Farms Equestrian Center that illustrate the various benefits and activities involved in therapeutic riding and hippotherapy (therapy that utilizes the movement of the horse as part of the treatment plan). The farm and riding experience is beneficial in many ways, providing a variety of stimuli to the riders - everything from the 3-dimensional movement of the horse, to the sequencing and organizational skills that are required when working with horses, to the powerful human to horse bonds that occur between the riders and their horses.

From Portland take 295 north to exit 17 (Yarmouth). Take a left onto Route 1 south. At first light, take a left (you will see a sign that says "to East Main St.") At the top of the hill take a right onto East Main St. Take your first left (only a couple hundred yards) onto North Rd. Follow North Rd. for six miles (You will go through one four way stop at the intersection with Route 9). The second stop sign you come to will be at the intersection of North Rd. with Route 231. Take a right on 231 and go 1 1/2 miles. The Equestrian Center will be on top of the hill to your left.

Smiling Hill Farm

Smiling Hill Farm is a 500-acre working dairy farm with 50 Registered Holsteins. They produce quality milk which they process at their own bottling plant right on the farm. Milk in old-fashioned glass milk bottles is available. They also produce fresh farm-made ice cream and butter. Artisanal cheese is also crafted at the farm. There will be opportunities to view farm animals, wagon rides, demonstrations and lots of free samples of Maine products at the dairy store. HANDICAP ACCESSIBLE.

From Rt. 295 - take Exit 5B (Congress St. West) go 5 miles on Rt. 22. From Maine Turnpike Exit 42 (old exit 6), turn left on Payne Rd. go 1 mile, turn left on Rt. 114 north, go 3 miles, turn right on Rt. 22 east, go 1-1/4 miles. From Sanford or Gray, take Rt. 202 into Gorham, take Rt. 114 south for 3 miles, turn left on Rt. 22 east and go 1-1/2 miles.

Sunrise Acres Farm

Located on 155 acres ten miles northwest of Portland, Sunrise Acres Farm specializes in raising purebred polled dorset sheep, polled Hereford cattle and pasture poultry. Rotational grazing and hay-making are major summertime projects as well as the four acre organic garden that supports 125 CSA shareholders and 2 Farmers' Markets. This year an additional hoop house showcases production of over 51 varieties of heirloom tomato plants. Garden tours and pasture walks at half-hour intervals.

Route 9 south from Cumberland Center, go about 1 mile and turn right at Mobil Station onto Winn Road, 2nd farm on right.

Windy Hill Farm

They raise dairy heifers, beef, vegetables, lots of pumpkins. They have a farm stand, chickens, farm fresh eggs, natural beef which is sold in our market. The farm stand will be open with fresh produce and Maine products. Join us for a learning adventure. They have a unique collection of antique tractors and equipment that will be on display. There will be a petting zoo with pygmy goats, Barbados sheep, chickens and ducks.

From Exit 48 (old exit 8) on the Maine turnpike go straight through the light - McDonalds will be on your right. From there go 2 miles to Sappi Paper Mill. Keep straight and go about 4 miles. You will come to a golf course - continue about 2 more miles. Farm is on the right. Farm sign out front. From Foster's Corner at the rotary - follow 202 for 5 miles to the traffic light. Take a left at the light onto River Road. Go approx 3 miles. Men's Correctional Center is on the right. The farm is exactly one mile from there on the left.

The Swetts have a herd of over 250 red deer and will offer farm tours showing deer fencing, handling facilities, red deer and red-elk cross deer. They will explain how deer are handled and raised and gladly answer questions.

Starting from the junction of Rt. 2 and Rt. 69, take Rt. 69 west approximately 1/2 mile. Turn left onto the Cook Rd. for approximately 3 miles, at the first four corners take a left onto the Swett Road. Go 1/2 mile to the end of the road.

Mapleshade Farm

Small Family Farm
This small family farm is home to two American Dairy Goat Association registered herds of dairy goats. The Mapleshade herd of Alpine, purebred Saanen and Recorded Grade goats and the Tumphius herd of purbred Oberhasli are used for milk production, show and replacement animals. The farm also raises chickens, turkeys, lambs, pigs and rabbits. On OFD there will be demonstrations and displays on the many aspects of raising and caring for dairy goats including milking, hoff trimming, and show clipping. There will also be goat milk cheese and goat milk soap demonstrations as well as sampling of goat products. There will be a petting area and educational posters and displays throughout the farm. The farm store will be open. Join us for a farm-fresh experience.

From Route 15 in Corinth take Rt. 43 towards Exeter for 1 1/2 miles. Turn right onto Rt. 94 toward Dexter. Go 5 1/2 miles. Farm and sign on right. From Rt. 7 in Dexter take Rt. 94 toward Garland, 1 1/2 miles from Garland center farm and sign will be on the left.

Page Farm & Home Museum

The Page Farm and Home Museum is located in the last original agricultural building on the University of Maine campus. The museum houses an ever-growing collection of farm implements and household items. Equipment and vehicles having to do with everything from clearing land to harvesting and storing crops are displayed. Some of the many exhibits include Poultry, Dairy, 4-H and Ice Harvesting. There is a blacksmith shop and a one-room schoolhouse. On Open Farm Day there will be tours of the museum and grounds and field day activities after noon. Activities will include a blacksmithing demonstration, heritage garden tours, ice cream making demo and taste tests, field games for children & adults, spinning demonstration, herbal crafts and an exhibit of one-lungers or hit-or-miss engines. We invite you to bring a picnic lunch. HANDICAP ACCESSIBLE.

From I-95, take the Stillwater exit and continue toward Old Town, turning right onto College Avenue. Turn left into the UM campus at the Alfond Hockey Rink, go to Flagstaff Road and turn right. Continue to the Maine Centre for the Arts, go one block and turn left into the parking lot. The big white barn on your left is the Page Farm and Home Museum. From Rt. 2 in Old Town, turn right into the UM campus on Flagstaff Road. Turn left on Belgrade Road, continue to the Maine Centre for the Arts and go one more block, turn left into the parking lot and look for the big white barn.

The Curran Homestead Living History Farm & Museum

Living History Dairy Farm Museum
This family farm is being restored as a living history farm and museum. It includes a house, barn and related buildings with approximately forty acres overlooking Fields Pond. The Curran family operated a turn-of-the century subsistence farm whose animals, crops, and woodlot provided the family with food, shelter, heat and enough cash to provide the necessities. Open Farm Day will feature an old fashioned country fair atmosphere with small farm animals, children's games and activities, selected demonstrations of farm activities, and plenty of food as visitors tour the facility, listen to a storyteller, hike the areas nature trails, and hear live music.

From Bangor, go out Wilson Street to McDonald's and turn right onto Green Point Road. Turn left onto Wiswell Road at the T intersection, go 1.6 miles and turn right onto Fields Pond Road. The farm is about one mile on the right. From Holden and points east, go west on Rt. 1A. Just past Holden Center, turn left onto Copeland Hill Road. Go 1.1 miles and turn right onto Wiswell Road and then seven-tenths of a mile turn left onto Fields Pond Road. Farm is on the right.

Treworgy Family Orchards

This is a diverse small farm growing apples, cut flowers, pumpkins, squash, and corn. They also have a variety of animals including poultry, rabbits, dairy goats, sheep, a miniature donkey, llama and horses. The Eastern Maine Rabbit Breeders Association will set up a display of ten different breeds of rabbits. Some pet rabbits will be for sale. Members will discuss rabbit care, breeding and rabbit shows. Watch a hand spinning demonstration with angora rabbits. There will be hay ride/farms tours of the orchard, pumpkin and corn field along with barn tours. There will be a picnic area.

From I-95 in Bangor take exit 184 (old exit 47) (Union Street). Head west on Rt. 222. Go straight past the Bangor International Airport for 9 miles. They are 2 miles past the Irving Station in Levant village. The farm is at the top of the hill on the left.

Windkist Haven Farm

Horse Farm
This farm has a 6 stall barn, a small riding ring, and the beginnings of trails around the property. There are four horses, 2 of which are lesson horses. There is an assortment of other animals: dogs, cats, chickens and sheep. At 9:00 am there will be a farrier demonstrating trimming horses hooves and answering quetions; at 12:30 pm an equine massage therapist will be demonstrating equine massage and answering questions; and between 2:00 and 3:00 pm there will be a veterinarian discussing general care of horses and answering questions. The Bradford Buckskins 4-H group will have horse related crafts for sale throughout the day.

Norlands Living History Center

Norlands is a 445 acre living history site, open year-round, which uses its land and six historic buildings to re-create 19th century rural Maine for visitors of all ages. It is Maine's only year-round working history farm, with oxen, horses, cows, sheep, pigs and poultry, crops and seasonal activities. The costumed staff will delight visitors at the farm and the farmer's cottage with their stories and will also give wagon rides. The farm tour does not include the other buildings on the site. Both the barn and farmer's cottage will have much to teach visitors who will readily understand the difference in farming in the late 19th century when they are shown the old-time equipment used by both farmer and wife. Role playing staff will talk to visitors about farm life in the period. There will be wagon rides (for a small fee) with the farm horses and you will be offered lemonade and cookies in the farmer's cottage. HANDICAP ACCESSIBLE.

Troika Drafts is New England's only full service draft horse facility. Training and lessons are provided for working and show drafts. Spring foals to retired drafts, many near 30 years old, are available for patting! There will be informational displays on shoeing techniques, types of shoes and their uses. Black Locust Farm has close to 100 cashmere goats that range over 60 acres of fields and woods. The goats keep the pasture free of weeds and brush for the horses and they produce one of the softest fibers in the world. The farm also has horses, geese, and one American Guinea Hog (a small black pig). If there is interest, there will be demonstrations of packing with goats. The Taylors will also discuss the cashmere fiber, how to assess its quality, how to harvest it and what the current market is like. They will have cashmere batt & yarn for sale.

A small family farm where they raise a herd of up to thirty boer goats, among them are South African Fullbloods, American Purebreds, Lower Percentage and meat goats. They keep a few barred rock laying hens and a dairy goat for their own use. They have a hayfield which helps to support the animals. They will do a demonstration of hoof trimming, feeding and general care of the goats. There will be a discussion led by Rose Martikki that will include worming and basic vaccinations. A table will be st up to show Sunny Ridge Farm goat soap and ingredients, molds, etc that are used to make it. Children will be allowed to pet some of the young goats. There will be samples of ice cream made of goat milk.

This is a preservation farm focusing on 17th and 18th C livestock and plants. They are MOFGA certified for all their plants, hay and laying hens. All other livestock are raised using organic principles but are not certified. The vegetables and flowers are production raised for market sale. They are transitioning to heritage varieties. The heritage breeds of livestock are Old North Atlantic breeds of sheep including Soay sheep, Shetland sheep, Silver Dorking, Dominique, Light Brahma and Speckled Sussex chickens. They also have Jersey cattle, including an ox in training, donkeys, and cashmere goats. They also have a collection of antique spinning wheels, including an unusual walking wheel and can talk about them with visitors.

They also have many solar collection devices, along with a small strawbale cottage and a small sawmill for their own lumber needs. They have recently begun to use permaculture design to meet long term needs. There will be garden tours, discussions of permaculture, and tours of the solar mechanics, and straw bale cottage. They will share the ways the Neverdun Farm cooperative works together to live lighter on the earth. Some farm members run a CSA program at the farm. People who join the CSA receive fresh vegetables weekly in exchange for the purchase of various size shares. Sample their vegetables and herb teas for refreshment.

From Kennebunk, Rt. US 1 North approximately 2 1/2 miles, turn right at the lights onto Log Cabin Road, go to the railroad tracks. Farm is the second driveway on the left. From Biddeford, take US Rt. 1 South, approximately 3 1/2 miles to the lights, turn left onto Log Cabin Road, go across the railroad tracks. The farm is the second driveway on the left.

Oakhill Alpaca Ranch

Oakhill Alpaca Ranch is located in Shapleigh across from the blueberry plains on Route 11. On the 70+ acre ranch are pick your own organic lowbush blueberries, Oakhill has an award winning alpaca breeding program and a Country Gift Shop with two floors of products made from alpaca fleece. There will be hayrides all day, and alpaca obstacle course demonstrations at 12:00, 2:00 and 4:00. There will be a question and answer session at 11:00 on alpaca herd management, fencing, fiber and equipment for your farm. Refreshments will be available.

Take the Maine Turnpike to Exit 19 (old exit 2). Take Route 109 to Sanford. Stay on Route 109 until you reach Shapleigh. Turn right onto Route 11 (also known as Shapleigh Corner Road). Oakhill is across from the soccer field.

Old School House Farm

Diversified Organic Farm
The Taylors raise organic meats: lamb, chicken, duck, beef, turkey, and pork. There are self-pick flowers and organic vegetables at the farm stand. They raise Haflinger horses to drive and ride. They raise and breed border collies. They use solar power and operate a bed and breakfast. There will be solar power tours, animals to see and raw wool, roving, felt and yarn and other farm products. Various activities are planned throughout the day. Contact the farm for details and costs.

From the Maine Turnpike take exit 32 (old exit 4) - Biddeford. Go straight through the light (Rt 111), at 2nd light turn right on Route 1 south. Go 3-4 miles. At 1st light turn left onto Log Cabin Road. Go 3-4 miles and turn left onto Goose Rocks Road. Go 2 miles (# 162) Park at the farm stand.

Ridley Farm

This is a small family farm with a dairy herd of 25 milking Holstein and Ayrshires. They raise their own natural beef, natural lamb and natural pork. There will be tours of the dairy, calf nursery, greenhouse and crops. The farm store will be open, offering all of their farm fresh products including fresh vegetables.

From Sanford take Route 109 North into Emery Mills - take a right onto Route 11 toward Shapleigh.. At the blinking light go straight through onto Owls Nest Road. Go approximatley 1 mile and turn right onto Nason Road. The farm store is on the right, and the farm is 1/4 mile farther up the road.

Vegetable Farm
This farm includes several hundred acres in woodland, with 10 acres under cultivation, including 6 acres in sweet corn with the balance in mixed cegetables, potatoes and perennials. There will be information on conventional irrigation, integrated pest management, and cultivation for weed control uisng very rustic and antique equipment. Rustic and antique operators may be viewed. The farmstand will be open.
Open Farm Day Hours: 12 noon - 4:00 p.m.
From "Five Points" intersection (Rt. 1 + Rt. 111) go east on West Street. Watch for a sign on the right. Turn right onto West Loop Road. Park near the farm stand.

Snell Family Farm

Vegetables, Greenhouse, Perennials, Maple, and Apples
This is a sustainable, diversified farm focusing on retail with an option for CSA membership. The season begins with maple production followed by greenhouse crops. Vegetables and an apple crop sold through pick-your-own. Aquatic plants, including beautiful waterlilies, shelter a rainbow of frogs. The Snells will offer walking tours of the farm, an explanation of conservation practices, drip irrigation, cover crops, wildlife accommodations, and crop rotation. Visitors will be able to participate in the garlic harvest, finger out a few new potatoes, visit the greenhouses, sample fresh vegetables, and test a new crop of sour pickles. Also, check out the various tractors and farm equipment..

From Portland follow Route 22 west, from Gorham take Route 202 west, from Saco follow Rte 112, 10 miles north.
