Alpacas are originally from South America and they come in 22 different colors including true black. Alpacas produce fiber that is very soft and warm. The fleece contains no lanolin which makes preparation for spinning much less labor intensive than sheep's wool. An adult alpaca weighs about 140 to 180 pounds. They are intelligent, gentle creatures and they are easy to handle. There will be spinning demonstrations through out the day. Fleece, roving, yarn and finished alpaca products will be available for sale. If you have additional questions, call us at 207 832-5162, email newaim@midcoast.com or visit our web site www.newaim.com
